There is as reason that iron is timeless, one of the earliest uses of cast iron railings in England was in 1710–14 at St Paul’s Cathedral.  Iron is sturdy, but more than that it truly can be artistic and beautiful.  Just because something is functional does not mean that it cannot be used to uplift your heart when you see it.
